The finely proportioned and historic buildings of Kirkcudbright, with their quirky lines and curves, are a thrilling subject, the houses and public buildings have a character of their own. Peter produced a series of paintings which became ‘Kirkcudbright, a book of paintings’ and this subject matter of houses and buildings, house portraits in their own right, has been central to his work ever since.
