Peter Jones House Portraits
Peter Jones is an artist based in Portobello, Edinburgh’s seaside. His work focuses primarily on buildings and place and has been published in a series of small books celebrating the buildings of Kirkcudbright, Portobello, Falkland in Fife, and Craigmillar & Niddrie. His paintings are characterised by quirky lines and fresh, bright watercolour washes, spontaneously drawn and mainly produced in situ, with the subject in front of him. This passion for working outdoors, where the buildings’ colours, character and details can be seen most clearly, takes him also into the landscape.

Falkland always looks great, but in the snow......

Falkland today ***it`s a winter wonderland*** perfect for a snowy walk, maybe followed by a Bounty hot chocolate at the Stables where you can catch my trees exhibition while warming up. Snow on Falkland Estate today - looking beautiful!

This is a BIG house, and a friendly one too. My house portrait commissions tend to tail off after November when the darkness, freezing temperatures and general grimness sets in properly. I did enjoy this one, it was rainy on and off, but what a grand old place this is, loads of greenery, those bright red berries (think I did this end of October)
If you have a house you`d like me to paint, please DM me, I`d love to hear from you (gift vouchers also available in time for Christmas)
Swipe left for the painting in stages

Sycamore - they`re a particularly abundant source of food and habitat for wildlife. Trees are giving all the time, a lesson in life for us mere humans. It`s National Tree Week, and a sheer fluke that my trees exhibition in Falkland opened this week too. This watercolour of a Sycamore is for sale, and is also available as a print. Or you can see it in Falkland for free at the Gallery at the Stables, Falkland Estate, open daily 10am-4pm until 22 December

I`ve just found out it`s National Tree Week! I`m late to the party, we`re 2 days in, but it does feel like synchronicity. I`ll bet trees know a thing or two about that. And it`s 50 years since `Plant a tree in `73!` Here`s a tree from my current exhibition in Falkland, I`m still not sure what kind it is. Can anyone enlighten me?

It was a fun day up in Falkland hanging a new show. There were trees all over the place! Made easier and more enjoyable by the wonderful FST team at the Stables. Looking forward to Friday`s Preview - 2pm-4pm at the Gallery at the Stables, Falkland Estate.
